Beyond The Classroom Goes Global!

Beyond the classroom have been invited to attend the British councils international study visit (ISV), Serbia, February 2013. We will be one of three British ambassadors, joining social entrepreneurs from 30 EU and Commonwealth countries. The aim of the summit is to discuss how locally engaged social change makers, can make an even greater global impact. To put it bluntly; for a week, we will discuss how to change the world!

We saw some wonderful social change projects, discussed youth policy with members of the Serbian parliament and even attracted the attention of the Serbian press!

Participants shared knowledge about how we are all tackling the same social issues in our very different cultural contexts. As Londoners we take for granted that the world comes to us, but travelling the world is a very different experience all together! You can read Amma’s full blog post on UnLtd’s website here.

So...We also met the lovely Akilah Russell in Serbia, who also happens to be the deputy online editor of the Voice newspaper. She took an interest in BTC and asked to write an article about BTC’s founder, Amma Mensah. You can read it here. The Guardian took one sniff of Akilah’s  article and decided to retweet. Great work Akilah!
