About us

Beyond the Classroom is a youth-led education Social Enterprise. Our mission is to equip young people with the tools to make decisions and take action based on their own needs, feelings and motivations.

We equip young people with the knowledge and resources they need to be leaders of their own lives and communities. We deliver effective, evidence-based programmes to support young people from low-income and BAME backgrounds to reach their full potential. At our core is a belief in the absolute importance of social mobility and a knowledge that young people are the solution to many of our society’s challenges - not the problem!

Our flagship Girlhood to Womanhood programme aims to develop the self-esteem, resilience and confidence of young women through the performing arts and peer-mentoring. As an organisation, our programmes fit into two thematic areas – Relationships & Wellbeing and Careers & leadership.

We are looking for:

Are you passionate about empowering young women to make positive change in their lives through the performing arts? Do you aspire to be a positive, relatable and inspiring role model for young women? If so, this position could be for you!

We are looking for a youth mentor / arts facilitator to help us deliver our long-term Girlhood to Womanhood programme with schools across London. You will be able to implement music and / or drama in the delivery of personal and professional development programmes

Please note that for us, the arts are a method of facilitation rather than a primary outcome of our work; G2W develops young women’s wellbeing and confidence. We are also particularly interested in hearing from individuals who are able to directly relate to challenges we address and group we support, in an appropriate and professional manner.

Person Specification

This position is ideal for an individual seeking to develop their career within the youth and personal development sectors. You will share the team’s passion for youth empowerment, social enterprise and be looking to apply your skills and experience to this area. You will embody the values of our G2W programme: taking an honest and critical approach to supporting young women to become the very best version of themselves.

You will thrive in a small, creative and resourceful team and be willing to work flexibly within your role.  We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated individual with strong personal development and communication skills.
